American actor, comedian, writer and producer, born December 13, 1925 in West Plains, Missouri, USA. Brother of Jerry Van Dyke. He is best known for his roles in the films "Bye Bye Birdie", "Mary Poppins" and "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang", and the television series "The Dick Van Dyke Show", and "Diagnosis: Murder".
